REGISTRATION INFORMATION
The registration form on our site requires those visitors who register to give us contact information (such as name, phone and email) and demographic information (such as address, age, DOB, race and gender). The contact information is used to contact the visitor when necessary or as requested. Users may opt in or out of receiving future communications (for more details see the opt-out/changes section below). We will also use the contact and demographic information to guide our general efforts to supplement, revise, and otherwise improve the content of this web site to better address visitor concerns and interests. However, please remember that information you send in emails over the Internet is not secure. As a result, you should be careful not to include personal information in emails that you do not wish to be seen by others. DHEC cannot be responsible if electronic mail is lost, intercepted or misused by others.
CONTESTS
All contests conducted for RAGE Against the Haze are final. Contest Rules and Winner Selection are at the sole discretion of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
COOKIES
Cookies are used only to maintain session state at www.RAGEagainstthehaze.com. A temporary cookie is created when a user logs in. This cookie holds the necessary information needed to authenticate users so that they can access restricted areas of the site. When users log out or close their browser, the cookie is automatically deleted.
OPT-OUT/CHANGES
Our Web site gives you the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications from us. If you have previously emailed us and received a reply, and do not wish to receive further communications from us, simply press the opt-out button on the web page. This will send an email to a generic email address requesting that you be taken off of our email list.

This Web site contains links to other web sites that contain information about anti-smoking organizations and the tobacco industry. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control does not control these web sites, and we are not responsible for their content or the privacy practices of these web sites.
SECURITY
Our Web site has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the user information under our control.
Pursuant to privacy guidelines established by the U. S. Federal Trade Commission, we DO NOT collect online contact information from children under the age of 13 without first receiving parental permission. Unless we receive a written communication providing prior parental permission, online information will be used only to respond directly to a request for information from a child less than 13 years of age, and not for other purposes. With regard to visitors under the age of 13, the site:
Allows parents who have previously given parental consent for their child under the age of 13 to review, change, or delete their child’s personal information given to RAGE Against the Haze;
Notifies these parents if we change the purpose for which we use that child’s personal information;
Does not collect personally identifiable offline contact information without prior parental notification;
Does not distribute to third parties any personally identifiable information without prior parental consent;
Does not give the ability to publicly post or otherwise distribute personally identifiable contact information without prior parental consent;
Unfortunately, given technological and resource limitations, it may be possible for some children under 13 to evade our efforts to notify parents or obtain prior parental consent — especially if their parents do not supervise or monitor their Internet use at home. The structure of the RAGE Against the Haze Membership program does, however, ensure that such evasion could not progress beyond the Basic membership level.
